Christmas Memories

“I know Christmas brings different memories for different people...

It could be that, like Andy Williams, you think this is the most wonderful time of the year; or, like Merle Haggard, you are just trying to make it through December.

Or perhaps you are somewhere in between. What I do want you to know, as you begin the journey towards Christmas [Day], is that this season is an opportunity to bring both our JOYS and our SORROWS, our HEAVINESS and our HAPPINESS to the One whose miraculous life birthed this season.

The good news for both Christmas carolers and Christmas cranks (and everyone in between) is that Jesus came to bring joy to ordinary people like you and me.” ~The Characters of Christmas; The Unlikely People Caught Up in the Story of Jesus by Daniel Darling

We made NEW memories this year with the Priest/Perry side of our family.  We rented a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and spent four nights away, together.  Under one roof were 11 kids ranging in age from one year to 18years old, 4 adult children and three parents/grandparents (yes, the adults were out-numbered!). We ate meals together, hiked together, sat by the fireplace or in the hot tub together and the kids ran and played and played and played.  I received so many hugs and loves and special rocks over the last four days; memories I will forever treasure. New memories were made and for that I sit here tonight; remembering, blessed and grateful!

May tomorrow and the rest of this season remind you of great Christmas memories.

May it bring you great joy and good news as we remember the Saviors birth. For unto us a baby was born of God’s great love; he lived a sinless life with one purpose, to bare the wrath of your sin and mine; he was crucified and died; but, he rose again and ascended to the right hand of God Almighty and will come again to conquer sin and death once and for all and take up with himself all who believe to a new heaven on earth!  May we find peace, comfort and joy-Amen!
